Bakaliko means meeting point; traditionally, that meant kafeneio (coffee shop) and grocery shop in one. The concept has been revitalised in this lilac-accented restaurant where excellent cuisine (using organic produce where possible) and wine – an impressive choice of 70 by the glass, most from Crete – complements local products such as olive oils and marmalades. Although it's gourmet, prices are reasonable.
It’s run by Susanna and Giorgos; the former whips up delicious breakfasts, while the latter has all the answers when it comes to local wines – see him before embarking on a wine tour.
