Just 1.5 miles east of downtown, part historic home of one of Kentucky's favorite sons, part public park, this was the Italianate estate of famed statesman and great compromiser Henry Clay (1777–1852).

A gorgeous property set in the midst of a tony historic neighborhood, it's well worth the admission to enter the home, but you can walk the property for free, peer into the carriage house where his coach is on display, and you can see the, ahem, privy (outhouse) too.
