Michigan Central Station

Notable Building in Detroit

The once-grand beaux-arts rail terminal, within eyeshot of Corktown's main drag, was left to fall into decline after closing in 1988 and became a symbol of the city's shattered economy. Like Detroit itself, though, Michigan Central Station is showing signs of renewed life. Windows were installed in 2015, shutting out vandals and weather, but a full renovation is estimated to cost $100 million. The owners are currently seeking investors.
