The little town of Kosta is where Glasriket first fired up, way back in 1742. It's a crucial stop for those exploring the area, which will either be something you're very interested in, or not at all. In fact, if you just have a passing interest in glass and glass blowing and you're not sure which of the Glasriket villages to visit – Kosta is the one-stop shop.
Most visitors to the village – which today feels a bit like a glass-blowing theme park – will either take a tour of the Kosta Glassworks factory or head to the Kosta Glascenter, where you can witness glass-blowing firsthand, or try it yourself.
Otherwise, there's a fancy hotel, a variety of discount and high-end shopping outlets and not much else.
