Enclosed within the folded Aravalli Hills, Sariska Tiger Reserve & National Park (obms-tourist.rajasthan.gov.in/place-details/Sariska-Tiger-Reserve; safari by 4WD/canter from ₹2100/1700; closed Wed) is a sweep of craggy canyons sheltering a handful of tigers and leopards and plenty of peacocks, monkeys, boar, birds and deer.
Morning and afternoon safaris leave from the park headquarters at the Sariska Gate, but locals also drive in by car to visit the park's revered Hanuman Temple. Book safaris ahead via the official website or through Alwar hotels (you can get here on the Alwar to Jaipur bus).
Ruined forts ring the reserve, including the notorious Bhangarh (entry ₹200), founded in 1631 by Madho Singh then mysteriously abandoned. It's said to be the most haunted place in India.
