For the ultimate eco-escape, don't miss fantastic Dihan, secluded in a leafy dell outside Ploëmel (follow the signs from the village), 8km north of Carnac. Run by fun-loving Myriam and Arno Le Masle, a farmhouse and barn house the guest rooms, while the grounds shelter yurts, bubble tents and tree houses and even a whimsical wonkily shaped 'house'.
Guests can fire up the barbecue and dine beneath a pergola. Should nature call, there are biodegradable dry toilets (you'll find brightly tiled bathrooms and a sauna in the reception building). There's also a spa (massage for one hour is €85) and a sauna, to get the twigs out of your hair.
Rates include breakfast, which is a combination of organic, fair-trade and local artisanal produce, such as caramel au beurre salé (Breton salted caramel spread), deposited into baskets which can be yanked up into the trees. Fabulous tables d'hôte (meals that are a combination of Myriam's Breton, Mauritian and Indian heritage; by reservation) take place in the converted cidrerie, where pianist Arno hits the keys and bands sometimes drop by.
You can rent bikes (per day €12) or try your hand at paddle-boarding (half-day €29).
