Pook's Hill Lodge

Off the dirt road that leads to Actun Tunichil Muknal, approximately 8 miles south of Teakettle Village, this is a gorgeous lodge on the site of a small Classic Period Maya residential complex. Round, thatch-and-stucco cabañas sport wraparound windows and immaculate natural-stone bathrooms. They are well spaced, allowing plenty of privacy. Breakfast (BZ$16), lunch (BZ$24) and dinner (BZ$40) are offered.

Set within a 300-acre private reserve, the grounds are lush with life, excellent for swimming, river-tubing, birdwatching and horseback riding.
