The micro-living trend has come to Glacier National Park with a colourful resort of tiny homes set against 700 miles of hiking and biking trails.
At the entrance to Glacier National Park in Montana sits the colourful Tiny Home Village at St Mary's Village. A minimalist's dream, the resort features 10 Nordic-inspired tiny homes in crayon box colours. What they lack in square footage they make up for in environmental conservation with eco-friendly elements like a freshwater/gray water system, energy-efficient appliances. They also require little heat and electricity on account of them being so tiny.
Each house is clean in design with a compact layout that makes them feel spacious. They sleep up to four people, with a sliding barn-style door separating the sleeping area from the living room and a separate wood-panelled bathroom with a jetted tub and shower. They're also loaded with amenities like a mini-fridge, coffee maker, portable sink, microwave, a two-burner stove and Wi-Fi.
If the shrunken space ever feels too constricting, there's plenty of wide-open space outside. The village is located in the heart of the Northern Rockies, right where the Great Plains meet Glacier National Park. Visitors can enjoy 700 miles of hiking, nature and biking trails that slice through mountain-ringed roads, glacial lakes and cedar forests or enjoy boat tours along the Caribbean-blue expanse of St Mary's Lake. Kayaks, canoes, and rowboats are available for rent nearby. Just beyond the village entrance, Two Dog Flats is a great place to look for bear or elk.
If you're ready to take on a tiny adventure, the nightly rate at Tiny Home Village at St Mary's Village is $290 per unit.
