These Vegas hotel suites come with basketball courts and bowling alleys

The Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas has added some unique installations to its Hardwood and Kingpin suites as part of the hotel's ongoing $690 million renovations. In one suite you'll find a regulation-sized half basketball court, while in the other you might strike it lucky with two full-sized bowling lanes.

If you've ever seen the 1980's movie Big, where Tom Hanks transforms from a 13-year-old boy into a 30-year-old man overnight and – giddy with the freedom of adulthood – decorates his grown-up New York loft with arcade games and a Pepsi vending machine, then these suites might just inspire some nostalgia. Just like in Big, the Hardwood and Kingpin suites are the stuff of childhood fantasies; playrooms for adults.

According to the hotel, the Hardwood Suite is the first and only hotel room to feature its own private, regulation size half basketball court. The 10,000 sq ft, two-story space, which starts from $20,000 (£15,000) a night, has two bedrooms and features locker room-style bathrooms, a hidden whiskey room, a game room with pool and poker tables and a 16-seat bar. For those who want a courtside rest, the wall of the basketball court transforms into a bedroom with three fold-down beds.

Meanwhile, the Kingpin suite is slightly smaller at 4500 sq ft and lower in price at $15,000 (£11,678) per night. It boasts two full-size bowling alleys, complete with shoes, bowling balls and an automatic scoring system, as well as views of the iconic Strip. There are also two bedrooms, two and a half baths, a pool table, a DJ booth and a full bar.

Both suites were redesigned by Rockwell Group and the full renovation of the hotel is due to be completed later this year. More extravagant themed-suites are in the pipeline, including the Cinema Suite, which will host an in-house screening room with a 98-inch flat screen and theatre seating for nine. The hotel recently announced details of its new nightclub KAOS, opening in April, which will host with an exclusive residency from rapper Cardi B.
