Wat Phra Si Ratana Mahathat

Ruins in Lopburi

For a peaceful, monkey-free experience of a Khmer wát, stroll around this beautiful site opposite the train station. Built in the 12th century and heavily modified over the centuries, this now-ruined temple has the tallest central prang (Hindi/Khmer-style stupa) in Lopburi and retains a good amount of original stucco, including gorgeous lotus-shaped detailing and intricate Buddha images.
