This huge park was previously called Victoria Park, but was renamed in the 1950s after the mother of King Dutugemunu. It’s notable for its tall trees and walkways with color from March to May. During the day people wander the paths and find respite from the heat.
A reflecting pool at the northeast end of the park frames a golden seated Buddha statue within the dome of the adjacent Old Town Hall.
