Murales de San Isidro

Alicante Province

Barrio de San Isidro was decorated with dozens of murals by well-known artists during the cultural flowering of the 1970s, in homage to Miguel Hernández, the Orihuela poet who died in a Francoist prison after the civil war. They've recently been touched up and accompanied by some modern works, and make for an intriguing visit. Ask for the leaflet from the helpful tourist office.
