Getting your morning cup of joe is an expensive business these days. A cafe in Washington DC is now serving a cup of coffee which will set you back $30. However, this isn’t just any old coffee. The Mockingbird Hill cafe’s pricey cup is made from Geisha beans, which are some of the rarest beans in the world and are only grown at very high altitudes. Another rare and expensive brew is on offer at Zeke’s Coffee in northeast DC. Here a coffee is made with beans that have travelled through the digestive system of a civet, a type of Southeast Asian cat. The resulting brew is supposed to taste smoother and less bitter thanks to the enzymes in the cat’s stomach. A pound of these beans will set you back $280. Read more: washingtonpost.com
