
One of South Korea’s largest ice fishing festivals has opened in Gangwon-do. The Hwacheon Sancheoneo Ice Festival celebrates its namesake, a type of mountain trout native to the cold, icy rivers of the area. Activities at the festival include ice fishing on a frozen river, as well as bobsledding and exploring an illuminated ice sculpture display. The festival runs until the first of February.
