Preparations have begun in Mongolia for the country’s annual Naadam festival. Long queues at box offices were reported as people lined up to purchase tickets for the festival’s opening and closing ceremonies and wrestling events, to be held at the National Stadium in Ulaanbaatar.

Naadam is a three-day festival (11-13 July, 2015) celebrating the traditional Mongolian sports – wrestling, horse racing and archery. Public transportation in Ulaanbaatar will be increased on festival days, with a number of buses operating free-of-charge. In addition to the official sports events, a number of cultural programmes have also been planned to coincide with the festival, ranging from opera and theatre to DJ sets.
