
Indonesia has reportedly set up a team to help reduce noise from the nation’s 800,000 mosques in light of complaints from residents that their speakers are too loud. Indonesia’s vice-president, Jusuf Kalla, has pledged to ensure that mosques emit a ‘more harmonious, melodious, sound’ at a reasonable volume, and not try to outdo each other via ‘loudspeaker wars’.
