Now you can let art and technology guide your explorations in Hong Kong, as these creative QR codes will lead you on a tour of some of its oldest neighbourhoods.

The Hong Kong Tourism Board is encouraging people to explore the "Old Town Central" with walking tours guided by some creative and beautiful QR codes highlighting local culture. The area, which has been given the moniker Old Town Central by the tourism board, includes Central and Sheung Wan, two of the oldest neighborhoods in Hong Kong. The tourism group notes that the area reflects a history of more than 100 years, “as well as recently being transformed into one of the hippest districts in the city”.

To take part in the tours, travellers have to find the QR codes at various locations around the district. The codes feature amazing designs inspired by the experiences that are on offer, like visiting a temple or drinking traditional Chinese tea. Once you scan the codes, you will be brought to a website that will introduce you to four thematic routes, focused on culture, art, heritage, and dining. The tours are called Tasting Hong Kong, Crazy for Art, Time Traveler (heritage) and Treasure Hunt.

But even after you finish your tour, the area also contains plenty of colonial monuments, temples, art galleries, antique stores, street art, restaurants, rooftop bars and much more that will keep travellers busy as they explore Hong Kong.
