If you are looking for inspiration on where to go next on vacation, you may be interested in new data published by TravelSupermarket. The holiday price comparison site has outlined the destinations predicted to be the fastest-growing in terms of visitor numbers.

By analysing Euromonitor data, it has concluded that Doha will be the fastest-growing destination in the world, with the 2.21m visitors it welcomed in 2018 set to double to 4.51m by 2025. Phuket follows closely behind Doha as the second fastest-growing predicted destination and the rest of the top ten destinations include 3. Jakarta 4. Ho Chi Minh City 5. Beijing 6. Denpasar 7. Seoul 8. Bangkok 9. Kolkata and 10. Jaipur.

India is home to the greatest number of fastest-growing cities, as Kolkata, Jaipur, Agra and Delhi all feature in the top 25 cities estimated to see the biggest increase in visitors. San Francisco, in 14th place, is the only city in a different continent as 24 of the 25 fastest-growing tourist destinations are in Asia.

“Finding somewhere new and exciting to go on holiday can sometimes feel like a difficult task," says Joey Tyson, travel editor for TravelSupermarket. "However, as our research has highlighted, there are many cities around the world that are amazing tourist hotspots that you may have never considered before."

Of course, if these cities experience the predicted growth in visitor numbers, they may have to contend with the effects of over-tourism, as is the case with Venice, which struggles with the consequences of so many visitors arriving there.
