
For the first time in 18 years an elephant has been spotted in Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park, a protected section of desert that spans sections of southern Botswana and South Africa’s Northern Cape. The sighting took place about 50km north of Mata-Mata rest camp, which is fairly close to the Namibian border. The visit was a fleeting one, as the elephant continued southeast and broke down a border fence before continuing into Namibia. SANParks officials, one of whom witnessed the elephant, said they would be reminiscing over the experience for years to come. Read more: news24.com
