It’s been one of the most debated upgrade plans in baseball history. The improvements to Chicago’s Wrigley Field, one of the oldest baseball stadiums in the United States, have caused months of controversy. While fans of the Chicago Cubs see the need for better screens and benches, residents surrounding the field have argued that the new construction will block the valuable view from their rooftops; it’s valuable due to the revenue from advertising and extra seats that the rooftops afford. Chicagoans are finally getting to see what the changes will look like as a giant new video screen is currently being constructed at the field. ‘Well it's huge! It's a lot bigger than I expected it to be,’ one woman said. The video screen will be nearly 4000 sq ft but will only block one of the left field rooftop businesses. The new screen should be ready for the start of the Major League Baseball season, on 5 April. Read more:
