A luxury glamping village dedicated to chocolate has opened in Slovenia, allowing guests to relax in style in the surroundings of a natural park while indulging in a host of heavenly sweet treats.
Despite the fact that Chocolate Village by the River is located just a few minutes away from the city of Maribor, it’s a tranquil and serene getaway. Sitting beside the Drava River, it’s also on the famous Drava Cycling Route. The lodgings come in three different options, each one inspired by and named after a type of cocoa. Forastero lodges have two floors with large panoramic windows and include a kitchen, living room, bathroom and terrace, while Criollo lodges are located in the treetops, have unique beds, a kitchenette and a living area. Trinitario lodges are right by a pool and have spectacular views of the river, and include a private hot tub and a fireplace.
As you can imagine, the whole experience centres around chocolate, with guests being able to enjoy chocolate breakfasts, chocolate workshops, chocolate tasting and chocolate making, chocolate cosmetics and even chocolate massages. Visitors can also sample chocolate cocktails and chocolate beer. The village is to be open year-round, with the founders saying that it is especially beautiful in the wintertime.
“The inspiration came from our passion for chocolate and from the local chocolate manufacturer named Teta Frida, which is also [right beside] the chocolate village. Guests can expect a quiet, luxurious stay, and of course, all the chocolate they could wish for,” a representative of Chocolate Village by the River told Lonely Planet.
The village is 5km from the Pohorje Cable Car, the largest Slovenian ski resort, the summer bike park and hiking grounds. Other highlights include a Finnish sauna, an outdoor firebox, a tea area, a chocolate and wine food pairing, and an on-site swimming pool.
