If you’re driving in a car in Turkmenistan, chances are it is white. Or it will be soon. The country’s government recently suspended imports of all black, red and blue cars and has requested that only white cars be imported from now on. Current cars may not pass their inspections until repainted white, though the cost of painting a car is around four times the average monthly salary in Turkmenistan. President Gurbanguly Berdymukhammedov, a former dentist, is purportedly fond of white - his presidential office is painted mostly white and he is often seen speaking in front of a bouquet of white flowers, as well as photographed astride white stallions.
