It's the rhinos that form the centrepiece of the conservancy effort here – its (at last count) 111 black rhinos form the largest population in East Africa. However, Ol Pejeta's role in the wider ecosystem extends beyond its boundaries thanks to its partner agreements and wildlife corridors with other Laikipia ranches. Ol Pejeta is also extremely active in local community projects including school infrastructure, health care and the provision of clean water.

Full-Day Ol Pejeta Conservancy and Chimpanzee Sanctuary Tour from Nairobi

Depart your centrally located Nairobi hotel around 6am for a three-and-a-half-hour morning drive through lush tea and coffee estates.This small group tour’s first stop is at the Sweetwaters Chimpanzee Sanctuary. Established by an agreement between the Ol Pejeta Conservancy, the Kenya Wildlife Service and the Jane Goodall Institute, Sweetwaters Chimpanzee Sanctuary provides a lifelong refuge to orphaned and abused chimpanzees from West and Central Africa. The sanctuary currently has more than 30 resident chimpanzees in natural enclosures. During your visit, you’ll learn about the resident chimpanzees, and have a chance to spot them as the approach a feeding platform.Next you’ll enjoy a game drive across the open plains of the nearby Ol Pejeta Conservancy. The reserve is home to reticulated giraffes, zebras, African elephants, cape buffalo, warthogs, lions, leopards, and many, many more, including over 500 bird species. Lunch (at your own expense) will be served at one of the lodges in the game sanctuary.Afterward, you’ll head to visit a rhino homestead and a manyatta, a replica of a Kenyan traditional tribal homestead. There, you will have a chance to sample the culture of the Maasai, Pokot, Turkana, and Samburu, as village men and women invite you into their homes, sell traditional wares, show off their ritual dances, and introduce you to their lifestyle.The tour concludes around 6:30pm with a drop-off at your Nairobi area accommodations. 4-Day Expedition: The Wild Side Of Kenya through a safari to Meru National Park

Day One: Nairobi Meru. Pickup from the Hotel or airport and drive towards Meru National Park via Nairobi - Nanyuki - Isiolo Maua/Meru route.  Brief stop at the Equator Crossing 1 Km to Nanyuki town.  Along the way you will be able to see peaks of Mt Kenya if weather will be good enough. Arrive at the Ikweta Safari Camp in time for a late lunch and end out for an evening game drive into the nearby Meru National Park (Less then 2 KM from Murera Gate). Dinner and overnight stay at the camp. Day Two: Meru National Park. Explore Meru National Park in morning and evening game drives. Leave the camp after break fast and proceed with game drive till mid morning Usually the park is very hot during the day and it is a good idea to return and relax by the camp pool or room awaiting the temperatures to cool down. Evening game drive follows after lunch where we be visiting the Rhino Santuary inside the Meru National Park. Return for dinner and overnight stay at the camp Day Three: Tana River/Kora National Park. We leave the camp with packed breakfast and lunch and by 6.00 we are at the gate Drive with game viewing towards Tana River Bridge ( Adamsons Bridge) the head quarters for Kora National Park This is where George Adamson also known as Baba ya Simba (Father of lions) used to live. Learn a little history about his life and conservation work while at Kora, Enjoy the scenic views of the wide River Tana and the Adamson Falls. Later drive back to Meru National Park, have your lunch at Bwatherongi Camping site. Relax and wait for the sun to go down and we can proceed with another game drive as we drive towards the camp again.  Dinner and overnight at the camp. Alternative during rainy season. During Rainy season crossing some parmanent rivers inside of meru National park like the River Bwatherongi can be impossible and in this case we leave after the morning game drive for Ol Pejeta conservancy instead of Kora. Spend the night at Sweet Waters inside  Ol Pejeta Conservancy. Day 4: Meru - Nairobi. After breakfast we leave the camp and drive back to Nairobi. We have a lunch stop at Nanyuki town or Sagana before proceeding to Nairobi where you be dropped at airport or your city hotel. In case you decide to take Ol Pejeta Option you leave after a morning game drive and drive to Nairobi with lunch break at Sagana. End of the tour.

The drive to Ol Pejeta Conservancy north of the city will take about three hours and the tour will stop in Nyeri town where you can buy a packed lunch from one of the hotels. You will then proceed to the entrance of the park and start game viewing (admission is included in the tour). Spot rhinos, buffaloes, elephants, cheetahs, giraffe (including the endangered reticulated giraffe), hyena, lions, leopard, and several species of gazelle, antelope and birds during your four hours of game viewing.
