Gravedona and neighbouring Domaso (1.5km to the east) stretch along a gently curved bay on the lake. Often overlooked by Como visitors, these two towns make a pleasant escape from thicker crowds to the south. Towards the southern end of Domaso stands a unique and beautiful Romanesque church, the late-12th-century Chiesa di Santa Maria del Tiglio. Gravedona also makes a fine base for forays out onto the water, with motorboats and sailboats available for hire.
High above Gravedona, the plateau town of Peglio (650m) offers wonderful views of the lake and plains around Gravedona. The main draw the stone Chiesa di Sant'Eusebio with its 17th-century frescoes, but the church is often closed.
