Welcome to Soufriere & Southwest Coast
It's sleepy down south in Dominica, but don't miss this part of the island, home to some superb snorkeling, natural mountain hot springs and the impressive geographic oddity of Scotts Head, which juts suddenly out of the sea where the Caribbean and the Atlantic meet. This unusual rocky isthmus has gorgeous views back to southern Dominica's dramatic coastline. The twin towns of Soufriere and Scotts Head were devastated by Hurricane Maria in 2017, and the damage is still readily apparent today. There are big plans to redevelop the region, with the construction of a much-needed new sea wall in Scotts Head and large-scale investment to lure visitors back.
