Venice Simplon-Orient-Express has unveiled an extravagant 20’s inspired party (think flapper dresses, tuxedos and cocktails) aboard its legendary vintage train made up of 17 original carriages from the 1920’s.

Called “The Party”, the events are taking place from 27 – 29 March 2020, with the celebration beginning at a speakeasy on the island of Giudecca, where the Belmond Hotel Cipriani is located. From there, guests board the Venice Simplon-Orient Express, which departs from Santa Lucia station, making its way through Italy, Austria, Switzerland and France – passing Alpine ridges and lakes along the way. Guests are encouraged to embrace the theme with suitable attire as they drink champagne in coupe glasses in the bar car, followed by a four-course meal. “As the party roars across the rails, surprise entertainment and impromptu performances will unfold on and off the train,” Belmond said.

The next morning sees guests having a continental breakfast in their cabins, with brunch being served later in the day. At Calais Ville Station, travellers are brought through the channel tunnel in a private coach to change train to the Belmond British Pullman, where they have afternoon tea and a glass of sparkling English wine as they make the journey through the Kent countryside before arriving in London’s Victoria Station.

The Venice Simplon-Orient Express travels through Europe from March to November, travelling to Istanbul once a year. The 2020 season sees the addition of three new suites on the train, named after cities that inspired each design – Venice, Budapest and Prague. Prices for the two-night “The Party” event starts at £3760 per person with a one-night stay at Belmond Hotel Cipriani with dinner included, as well as a twin cabin on board the train with drinks and meals included.
