Raised eyebrows as Danish PM flies with Ryanair
Politicians' travel choices often cause raised eyebrows amongst voters. But Danish Prime Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen has been admonished by some of his fellow Danes not because he spent too much on his recent holiday to Spain, but because he chose to fly with budget airline Ryanair.
Airline unions have been at loggerheads with the Irish airline for several years due to company policies which are not in keeping with Danish social benefits. While Rasmussen's trip was a personal rather than a professional one, civil servants in four of Denmark's cities, including Copenhagen and Aarhus, are banned from flying with Ryanair on business trips because of the dispute.
