Autumn and winter have always been my favourite seasons if I’m being honest. As much as summer elicits notions of frolicking in the sun with friends, colourful fashion, ice cold drinks on the beach and catching some much needed vitamin D, there’s something about the latter half of the year that makes me feel a lot more comfortable; the cooler days, hot chocolate and stodgy food under the duvet, layering outfits and autumn/winter fashion!

Think burgundy and neutral tones, chunky knits and your pick of the comfiest and trendiest outerwear – but what happens if you’re planning a winter holiday? Cosy comfort is paramount, yet you still want stylish pieces that can be rocked from morning to night. A couple of years ago, I took a short city break to Budapest and while it wasn’t officially winter at the time, it was officially very nippy. I brought along the most beautiful moss-green long-length coatigan from one of my favourite plus size outlets, ASOS Curve, and not only was it the perfect piece to balance the often changing weather, but I received a ton of compliments from other plus sized women too!

If you’re looking for pieces to style in the upcoming winter months, look no further as we’ve got some fab options and all the tips you need to build your winter travel wardrobe.

Corduroy Jumpsuit – Monki, £40

Love it or hate it, the vintage fabric is due to make a big return this autumn and honestly, what’s not to love about this practical jumpsuit? It’s autumn summed up, but available in five different colours if you’re not feeling the rustic orange version. Although Monki is predominantly a ‘straight sized’ store, the vast majority of their sizes come up large or oversized, often fitting up to a size 26/28, so it’s definitely worth popping into store and having a try on. Team the jumpsuit with a pair of white high top Converse with the seams rolled up.

The ‘out-of-office is officially ON’ getaway

For when you’ve booked a 1-2 week break and checked a bag. Maybe you’ve opted for a snug cabin stay in Scandinavia or Iceland to see the Northern Lights; a checked bag means we can embrace thicker fabrics.

King of high street Scandi style H&M have brought out this versatile piece in time for A/W. Available in two patterns, the shirt is perfect for long walks along the chilly coast due to its snug woven fabric and lined, drawstring hood in sweatshirt fabric. This is very popular style though, so nab it quickly before it sells out.

Short Sleeve Fit & Flare Dress – Navabi, £100

Linen is often not considered when it comes to dressing for winter, however heavier linens of a good quality hold up extremely well in cooler climates. This hot pink dress from Navabi serves as gorgeous evening attire for dinner or a night out. Pair with knee high boots for extra warmth.

Relaxed Jumper Dress – Micha Lounge, £38

Micha Lounge are known for the quality of their knitwear pieces and it would have been an insult not to include them in this list. The jumper dress is made of thick wool and can be dressed up or down depending on the occasion. We would wear this with tights and thigh high PVC boots, alongside this stunning white padded headband by ASOS Curve to complete the look.

Super Fluffy Crop Jumper – ASOS Curve, £26

I would be remiss in my duty as a plus size style blogger if I didn’t include my favourite piece of clothing – albeit in knitwear form – the crop top. This purple delight is a fun, A/W take on the classic crop and can be worn with high-rise Mum jeans (this pair from ASOS Curve are my personal fav) and some chunky trainers (such as these pale pink Adidas Falcons) for optimal, funky, cozy comfort.
