Could there be anything more wonderful than tasting food for a living? Probably not. Though it does depend on the type of food you're getting paid to eat. If nachos, tacos, burgers and hot dogs are your thing, you might just like the idea of becoming an NFL food taster.

Sports betting website Pickwise is holding a contest for "footballing foodies" across the US to be the company’s Official NFL Food Tester. Basically a person who will travel around the country and visit stadiums to find the "best signature dishes throughout the league."

You don't need any specific qualifications to enter because it's essentially a competition. You must have a tolerance for large crowds though, be okay with eating large amounts of stadium food, be over 21 years of age and reside in North America. The candidate who gets picked will win US$500 (€450) stipend in prize money, as well as tickets to a minimum of three-to-five NFL games during the 2019 season and an "allowance" to buy food at each stadium they visit.

The successful applicant must "rank the signature dishes and report back" to the company with their findings and select which franchise offers the best food in the league. Could it be the Baltimore Ravens' crab cakes? The Pittsburgh Steelers' meatloaf sandwich? The Texas Catfish Po' Boy on offer at Cowboys games in the Dallas Stadium? Or the gumbo at the Louisiana Superdome? It might even be the Kansas City Chiefs "Out of Town Burger," made from plant-based patties.

“The NFL is known for great action, great athletes and some incredible food,” said Pickswise spokesperson Jake Apperley in a statement. “So we want to hire the right person to settle the debate on which franchise has the bragging rights.”

To enter, you just need to upload a photo of yourself to Twitter at an NFL game, eating your favourite food and use the hashtag #NFLFoodTester. The winner will be picked at random and contacted by 13 September. The only downside is you'll have to fund your own transport and accommodation costs.
