Australian airline Qantas has unveiled the interiors upgrade to its 12 Airbus A380 planes, and the exciting news is that there is a special onboard lounge area for premium passengers.
The lounge is located on the A380’s upper deck, which is now occupied solely by business and premium economy passengers. Designed by David Caon as a social space, it can be found on either side of the staircase down to the lower deck. It has booth-style seating for ten first- and business-class passengers around café-inspired tables, and the area has muted LED lighting and wooden wall panelling.
There is a self-serve minibar for snacks and drinks, and the new lounge area is sure to make the whole flying experience even more sociable for passengers. Other changes on the planes include that there are now 30 fewer economy seats and an increase in premium seating by 27%. An update to the 14 first class suites has been made, with new contoured cushioning, seat finishes and a larger, higher-resolution entertainment screen.
The first jet with the newly-revamped interiors is now in operation, and Qantas is planning to revamp three A380s by the end of the year and all 12 by the end of 2020. For further information, please see the Qantas website here.
