Don't expect much in the way of contemporary interpretation or interactive exhibits – this downtown museum is basically a collection of stuff with placards. That said, you won't find a more exhaustive collection of central Louisiana stuff anywhere else – if this region interests you, you'll find a ton of artifacts culled from local attics and archaeology sites.
