Le Chalet

Top choice in Goma

Ten minutes north of Goma's centre by moto-taxi, Le Chalet is a tranquil oasis of tropical gardens and calm, lakeside dining. The interesting menu runs beyond the standard meat dishes, and there's also excellent pizza from a wood-fired oven and good set-meal offers. Stick around after lunch for a spot of sunbathing and swimming.

The restaurant rents out kayaks and even a motorised pontoon (US$60 per hour), on which you can peek at the vast lakefront houses of DRC's political classes.
