Welcome to Platanos & Agia Marina
Arriving at the bijou port of Agia Marina, with its yawning cats, mounds of yellow fishing nets and cluster of taverna is a delight, the biscuit- and wine-coloured Italianate buildings are as if drawn from an artist's palette. And rising behind them are the white sugar-cube houses of Platanos, a 10-minute uphill walk. Stately mansions still pepper the slopes and the row of renovated windmills that marches up towards its imposing clifftop castle makes a magnificent spectacle.
Heading right from the ferry quay, following the shoreline for a couple of kilometres, will take you to Krithoni and Alinda.
