Welcome to Mt Charleston
The name Mt Charleston correctly refers to the eponymous peak and the little village of Mt Charleston tucked away in the center of the park. From here, you can embark upon several hikes, including the demanding 16.6-mile round-trip South Loop Trail ascent of Charleston Peak (elevation 11,918ft), starting from Cathedral Rock picnic area. The easier, 2.8-mile round-trip Cathedral Rock Trail offers canyon views.
Deeper within the park, Lee Canyon is a popular ski resort with three lifts, 30 runs and a snowboarding park. Open almost year-round, Lee Canyon's 'green season' draws folks for biking, hiking, concerts and weddings.
