A grand old dame chilling out on Odesa's main promenade, Londonskaya has hosted such dignitaries as Robert Louis Stevenson and Anton Chekhov in the imperial times, and remains the lodgings of choice for the modern-day smart set. With iron-lace balustrades, stained-glass windows, parquet flooring and an inner courtyard, the place still oozes Regency charm.
Curiously, the 'English' name was invented by the hotel's French founder in 1846.
