Castillo de Trevejo

Extremadura

Atop a rocky spur surrounded by the Sierra de Gata, this crumbling 15th-century castle was built from an earlier Moorish fortress and still stands guard over tiny, isolated Trevejo. It's a dramatic, evocative sight, about 12km south of San Martín de Trevejo.
