Kultahippu

Ivalo

The cavernous, gleaming dark-wood dining room at the Hotelli Kultahippu opens to a 120-seat sun terrace overlooking the river in summer. Finnish specialities include creamy salmon soup with house-made rye bread, Inarijärvi whitefish with sour-cream sauce, and reindeer fillet with roast wild mushrooms. The pub and club (11pm to 4am Friday and Saturday) are the main local nightspots.

Live bands, comedians and DJs regularly perform; karaoke also gets a run.
