A car bomb in northern Cairo exploded outside a state security building in the early hours of Thursday, injuring six policemen.

Residents across Egypt’s capital reported hearing and feeling the large explosion just before 2am local time. The blast left a crater in the street, severely damaged part of the building and blew windows out across several nearby streets. Militants in northern Sinai who are affiliated with Islamic State have been behind many similar attacks in Cairo recently, but no one has yet claimed this latest bombing. Read more: bbc.co.uk
