Monywa Day Trip from Mandalay Including Lunch

The driver will pick you up from your hotel in Mandalay around 7am and head to Monywa, passing by Sagaing and Myint Mu. First, visit Po Win Daung Caves, a complex caves and buildings carved into the living rocks filled with archaeological treasures tracing back a thousand years.Then, stop for a lunch break at a local restaurant (included).After lunch, proceed to Mohnyin Thanbuddhay to see thousands of small Buddha images inside the temple and followed by Boddhitataung Pagoda. 2-Day Monywa Shwe Bo and Hanlin UNESCO World HeritageSite Tour from Mandalay

Our tour guide and driver will pick you up from your hotel in Mandalay ~07:30-08:00 hour.  We will drive along the flat pave roads with paddy fields and other cultivation on both sides.  Our first stop is Shwe Bo, exploring old city moat and Shwe Bon Yadana, the city’s most striking buildings which was once part of of King’s Alaungpaya’s 1753 palace.   We will also collect our ticket for Hanlin from here.  We will then proceed to archaeological sites in Halin, the Pyu Ancient city and the UNESCO World Heritage site.  If time allows, we also visit Hanlin Village with unpaved ox-cart tracks among incredible plethora of decaying old stupa and the hot spring.  We will then drive to Monywa.  Overnight in Monywa.  Early breakfast and check out by 08:30am.  We will explore Po Win Taung and Shwe Ba Taung Buddha cave complexes and well preserved mural painting inside some of the caves.  We will then continue to Mahar Bodhi Tataung Laykyun Setkyar Pagoda, the site has one thousand Bodhi trees and each tree has a large Buddha image underneath.  It also houses the second largest reclining Buddha in Myanmar.  Afterwards, we will proceed to Shwe Gu Ni pagoda which is famous among locals for its wish-fulfilling powers and Kyaukka Village which is well known for pre-Chaing Mai style lacquer ware since Konbaung era. Typical black and gold lacquer wares of Kyaukkar are heavier and more refined and artistic than Bagan lacquer wares.  After our sightseeing around Monywa, we will drive back to Mandalay, aim to arrive late afternoon/ early evening. NOTE: During the peak season, hotels in Monywa may not be available for bookings at short notice if clients do not book this tour well in advance.  In such cases, we will need to use the hotel in Shwe Bo and drive to Monywa the next morning to continue the tour.

3-Day Monywa Environs and Hanlin UNESCO Heritage site Tour from Mandalay

Day-1: You will be picked up from your hotel in Mandalay ~07:30-08:00 hour, and drive to Monywa on the eastern bank of Chindwin River.  Check in and drop off bags at the hotel in Monwya.We will explore Hpowin Taung (Powin Taung) and Shwe Ba Taung on the western bank of Chindwin River.  Hpowin Taung is an extra ordinary Buddhist cave complex that contains 947 sandstone caves dug out of the hill and contain many carved Buddha images and well preserved mural paintings of geometric pattern and Jataka stories (ancient Buddhist history) in vivid colors dated between 14th and 18th centuries.  It has been claimed by archaeologist to be the the riches collection of mural paintings and Buddha statues in South East Asia. Day 1 Arrival (-/-/-) Upon arrival at Mandalay airport, your guide will meet you and transfer to your hotel in Mandalay. Hotel Name: Shwe Yee Mon Hotel or Similar Day 2-3  Mandalay-Amarapura-Ava-Sagaing (B/-/-) You will explore Mandalay and its ancient capitals for two days. The 1st day explore the interesting places of Mandalay such as Mahamuni pagoda, Mandalay hill. Palace, Kuthodaw pagoda which is also known as the world biggest book, Shwenandaw monastery and visit to Amarapura to find the world famous wooden bridge of U Bein and Taungthaman Lake. The next day you will be transfered to Ava jetty by private vehicle and take a boat to Ava across Myit Nge river. Then visit to Bagaya monastery, Mae Nu Oak Kyaung and Nan Myint watch tower by horse cart and back to jetty. It is a major center of trade for agricultural produce. Mandalay - Monywa Full Day Tour

After breakfast at the hotel, our representative guide will pick you up at 0830am to head to Monywa by private coach. Monywa lies 136 km north-west of Mandalay. It is famous for the Standing Buddha Statue which is the second tallest in the world. As a first sightseeing,  we will visit Thanboddhay pagoda, one of the most intricately decorated temples housing over 500,000 Buddha images. And then we will visit Bodhi Thataung Standing Buddha Statue, which is the second tallest Buddha image in the world. You can go inside the Buddha statue and go up by using stairs. Inside, there are paintings which depict Buddhist heaven and hell. Proceed to Po Khaung Taung, a small range of hills in the Monywa area. There are one thousand Bodhi trees and each tree has a large Buddha image underneath. After that we will visit Aung Sakkya pagoda which is located on Po Khaung Taung. It is surrounded by more than 1000 smaller pagodas and enshrines thousands of Buddha images. Shwe Ba hill. And then proceed to Shwe Ba Hill and Shwe Gu Ni Pagoda. Shwe Ba Hill is located on the west bank of Chindwin river .  Many caves and temples are carved o ut from the surrounding volcanic rocks and filled with ancient Buddha Images. 13th century mural paintings can be seen in some of the caves inside walls. Those caves and temples are between the walk through narrow cliffs which is lead down by stone stairs. Shwe Gu Ni pagoda is about 20 miles east of Monywa, there is a famous Shwe Gu Ni Pagoda dating from the 14th century. The 33 meters high Buddha Image is sticked by gold foils and the original face of Buddha Image is hardly to see because of a thick quote of gold. And then transfer back to hotel.
