Cobh was the RMS Titanic’s final port of call: the original White Star Line offices on Cobh waterfront, where 123 Titanic passengers embarked (and one lucky soul absconded), now house the poignant Titanic Experience Cobh (titanicexperiencecobh.ie; adult/child €13/9), where guided tours provide a powerful insight into the ill-fated liner's first and final voyage in 1912.
You can find more Titanic exhibits at the nearby Cobh, The Queenstown Story (cobhheritage.com; adult/child €15/9.50), an interactive museum that also chronicles Irish emigration across the Atlantic in the wake of the Great Famine – from 1848 to 1950, no fewer than 2.5 million emigrants passed through Cobh’s port.
