Jama Masjid

Eastern Rajasthan

Another building worth visiting in Tonk is the imposing Jama Masjid, Rajasthan’s finest mosque. Delicately frescoed inside and out with interlocking patterns, ferns and flowers, and sinuous gold decoration. This important place of worship was begun in 1246 by the first nawab of Tonk, Nawab Amir Khan, and completed by his son in 1298.
