Welcome to Radisson
Named after explorer Pierre-Esprit Radisson, this village was set up in 1973 to house the workers on the James Bay hydroelectric project. It looks and feels larger than its population of less than 500 would suggest – partly because it was built to accommodate fluctuating numbers of workers (who work for eight days, then fly home for six) and partly because some families have decided to settle permanently here and create a real village.
