Fiesch sits in the Rhône Valley at 1049m, 18km northeast of Brig. It's a ski village in winter and a hiking, paragliding and 'viewpoint' village in summer. While many come to play in the magnificent surrounding alpine landscape, many more turn up to take the cable cars up to Eggishorn (2927m) for one of the most thrilling natural highs around, a view of the spectacular Aletsch Glacier.
It takes two cable cars to get up to the Eggishorn lookout. The first takes riders from Fiesch up to its associated alpine village of Fiescheralp at 2212m. There's plenty to do here too, with ski lifts, hiking trails and places to stay and refuel. The second cable car then transports visitors up to the Eggishorn.
