Cider and the Sea Factory of the Basques from San Sebastian

This daylong experience in the 2016 European Capital of Culture begins when your guide picks you up from your central San Sebastián hotel before 9am. With your small group of no more than 15, drive for about 20 minutes to reach the seaport town of Pasaia. Here, visit the Albaola museum — also known as "The Sea Factory of the Basques." Watch volunteer carpenters building a replica of the San Juan Galleon, a 16th-century whaling ship, as you learn about the area's rich maritime history from your local guide and the museum's displays. Hop back in the minivan for another quick drive to the Petritegi Cider House. Taste their quality cider in the cellar, directly from the barrels, and learn about the different flavors of the Gipuzkoa province. Enjoy a 3-course lunch of traditional Basque dishes like cod omelettes, steak, Idiazabal cheese with walnuts, and unlimited cider brewed in-house. Special dietary requirements can be accommodated, please note them in the Special Requirements field when booking. Relax as you're driven back to your San Sebastián hotel after lunch to conclude the tour.
