Welcome to Mutriku
A fishing town through and through, Mutriku, which dates from the early 13th century, is tightly wedged between slices of steep hills. It's an attractive village of tall houses painted in blues and greens and steps that tumble steeply downwards to the port. There's a small beach on the outskirts, a major draw on hot sunny days. Near Mutriku, you'll also find some fascinating geological formations dating back tens of millions of years, part of the Basque Coast Geopark. Scenic trails in the area go west to Saturraran and east all the way to Zumaia.
