After years of neglect, this evocative old Ottoman-era fort is finally being refurbished, and there are now plans to convert it into the city's museum. Depending on who's on duty, you may be able to sneak a peek inside and wander through its surprisingly small interior. Even if you can't, the fort's position, high up on a mound overlooking the town and port, is a great spot to pause and take in the views.
