Nemuro Hanamaru

Tokyo

Nemuro is a fishing port in the far east of Hokkaidō (Japan's northern island), and visiting the original kaiten-zushi (conveyor-belt sushi restaurant) there earns you some serious bragging points. But really, you can also just go to this convenient, good-value branch inside the mall, KITTE. The trade-off is that there's usually a wait here.
