Very close to Firuz Abad, a dirt road fords the Tang Ab River to reach Ardashir’s Palace, a grand structure built beside a spring. This 1800-year-old structure, with its domes, high iwans and clean stable lines, is one of the earliest examples of classic Sassanian architecture. In winter the Tang Ab is impassable requiring a lengthy detour through Firuz Abad by taxi.
