Herder Museum

Great Plain

Board a horse-driven carriage (extra charge), drive or walk the 1.5km along a sandy track to the Herder Museum, a circular structure designed to look like the horse-driven dry mills once so prevalent on the Great Plain. It’s filled with stuffed fauna and shepherds’ implements – carved wooden pipes, embroidered fur coats and a tobacco pouch made from a gnarled old ram’s scrotum.
