Welcome to Mitchell Falls & Drysdale River
The Mitchell Plateau (Ngauwudu) turn-off is 160km from the Gibb, and within 6km a deep, rocky ford crosses the King Edward River, formidable early in the season. The turn-off to Munurru Campground is on the right, soon after the crossing.
From the Kalumburu Rd it's a rough 87km, past lookouts and forests of Livistona palms to the dusty camping ground at Mitchell River National Park. The park contains the stunning, multi-tiered Mitchell Falls (Punamii-unpuu), which can be seen on a lovely three-hour return walk passing inviting, shady waterholes and incredible Aboriginal rock art.
